One of the best and most powerful running backs is well on his way to the NFL. Jonathan Stewart, who left the Ducks after his Junior year, ran a 4.4 in the 40 yard dash impressing the NFL scouts. His explosiveness during his tenure at Oregon has made him one of the most sought after players in the draft. Many scouts have him as going as low as the mid-1st round of this June’s draft. ESPN has devised their own mock draft for this upcoming draft and ranks Jonathan as the third best running back available and 18th overall to the Houston Texans. The Texans, if they take Stewart, would add the versatility they would need to combat Quarterback Matt Shaub and wide receiver Andre Johnson, at the running back position. Other mock draft’s have Stewart going even lower to the Arizona Cardinals to make the one-two punch of Edgerrin James. Many Oregon Ducks fans are hoping that he falls as far as 26 to the Seattle Seahawks so he could be close to home, but that is not likely with his draft stock up so high. He is ranked, among running backs, behind Heisman runner-up Darren McFadden and Illinois stand out Rashard Mendenhall.
