Jacoby Ellsbury has come into his own anchoring the Red Sox lineup.

This is a sports blog that I started during my senior year of high school. My love of baseball and basketball drew me to create this blog. I am an aspiring journalist who will use this blog to cover my favorite baseball team, the Boston Red Sox, as well as all other top stories in the world of sports. Enjoy!

**UPDATE: I have written continuously about the Portland Trail Blazers, but will no longer be covering the team on this site. I will instead be writing about Portland four times per week on Fan Huddle, a site that will be starting this fall. I will have more information, including a link to my site on Fan Huddle, when it becomes available. **

  1. Hey Nick, this is a great Weblog for us sport illiterates to come to and browse for info. … I love it!!! Now when I get together with my die-hard sport friends I can actually participate in conversations and sound like I’m smart. Wow, I’ve learned soooo much, and to think that I thought Santana was just a awsome guitar player….just kidding!

  5. First visit to site this morning. Really nice work; probably needless to say “Keep blogging”, but just in case…

DirecTV really let me down this “way early” AM insofar as I was up, caffeinated, prepped and pumped to watch Opening Day (my 42nd, give or take) a lot earlier in given year than normal as my (our) beloved Sox were center stage in a faraway land. Yesterday, I’d even called the satellite dish company with whom I had a 1-year relationship and their MLB Extra Innings package because my TV basically hibernates from last out of World Series until Easter. Apparently, if the service goes unused for 30 (60?) days, the subscriber needs to request a “reset”. I don’t have to re-up my MLB over the phone because they assume I want it for another year unless I request otherwise. Shrewd and savvy. Well, I’m pretty pleased as I went to bed last night to get a couple hours REM because the service tech had talked me through zeroing in on ESPN2 after the rigamarole of the aforementioned “reset” in the afternoon. The 2:36 AM blank screen (except for the initial band at the top which ID’s that Baseball Tonight goes until 3 there on “II’ ) doesn’t sit well with me nor does the 4:33 posting of a “We Realize There Is No Transmission Here” placard with DirecTV’s logo in corner. It’s not as if I can pre-dawn traipse down to my neighborhood sports tavern and catch the game because the tube is on the fritz again. It’s now 7:52 as I write this, our Beantowners are 1-0 (93 more should clinch East again in my estimation) with late inning Brandon Moss heroics, but I saw none of it. Once I sign off with this soapbox screed of my own, I’m calling the dish people to voice a little frustration. WIll I get some compensation for missing the ONE THING I watch off their broadcast-beam??? Thanks for listening, but what I’d really like is your blog take on what fans are supposed to do in securing a little more personal service from these pay-per-view services.

    OK, I feel vented. Thanks!

  13. Hi,

I visited your sports blog Swamigp’s Weblog at http://swamigp.wordpress.com/. You have really great articles and I’m glad I found your site.

I would like to know if you’re accepting guest blog posts, I’d like to send you an original blog entry on basketball which I think would fit nicely with your site. I’m doing this for free but would only require 1 backlink in the article to my site.

Please let me know if you’re interested in publishing this basketball blog entry so I can send it to you for publication soon.

    Thank you

  16. Uh, Swami, I, somehow managed to miss the entire college basketball season so far, but having just read your blog, I feel like I’m ready for the madness! And, you know how mad I am for sports… Great blogging. You’re a writer. By the way, the comment about being less sox biased. You might want to consider that. Less sox, more, you know, briefs…

    Comment by jackport | March 18, 2009 | Reply

    • briefs, eh? I’ll think about it. Glad you’re ready, because I sure am!
